Jason Wu S/S 13
Helmut Newton’s erotically charged imagery has made its impact on Jason Wu this season, the designer looked to Newton and the dreamy works of Lillian Bassman when creating his spring collection. The dual artistic influences showed on the runway, which was sleeker than ever with its contrasting mix of hard and soft. Leather, lace and chiffon were recurring elements and created an ultra feminine and elegant version of dominatrix chic. The crocodile embossed leather sheath on Carolyn Murphy was softened with a hint of tulle that made all the difference, while the sexy sheer draped jersey pieces were given a graceful touch via transparency.Naturally, there were a few showstopper ensembles to set tongues wagging. The frothy, delicate tulle skirts paired with structured bodices and covered with intricate beading, were a lovely finish to an stunning collection; Cora Emmauel’s navy silk gown glittered and it dazzled the crowd too.
